NGO-ISAC is the leading cybersecurity community for non-governmental organizations, serving 400+ members including think tanks, human rights organizations, foundations, environmental groups, and healthcare nonprofits and partnering with private sector organizations both large and small. We're the cybersecurity backbone keeping civil society functioning in an increasingly digital world.
Our mission: Boost cybersecurity maturity in NGOs through strategic intelligence, best practices, and immersive education, fostering a resilient and collaborative security culture.

The Opportunity
Join our leadership team as Chief Operating Officer and help scale an organization that's critical to national security and civil society. This role combines operational leadership with risk oversight, reporting directly to the CEO.

What You'll Do
Operational Leadership

Scale our operations as we grow from startup to established organization

Drive operational excellence across finance, HR, and vendor relationships

Lead strategic initiatives in partnership with CEO and board

Build systems and processes that support sustainable growth

Manage cross-functional projects and resource allocation

Establish metrics to track organizational performance

Scale to meet the moment
Community Engagement
-
Develop resources to help members improve their risk management
-
Increase engagement from members of civil society and civil society organizations that can help community manage or avoid risk​
-
Recruit specialized professionals to broaden the scope of risk areas addressed by NGO-ISAC community
-
Facilitate collaboration among our 400+ member community with a focus on reducing risk in many forms including cybersecurity, governance, and other threats to our member organizations

Support member organizations during cybersecurity crises
What We're Looking For
Must-Have Experience
-
5+ years senior operational leadership- COO, Operations Director, or similar role
-
Nonprofit or mission-driven organization experience

Integrated Responsibilities

Startup or high-growth environment experience

Team leadership and people management skills
-
Cybersecurity or technology sector knowledge

Bachelors degree or equivalent education

Membership organization experience

Crisis management experience

MBA, MPA or advanced management degree
