Our Community Policy
Members of the NGO-ISAC community agree to abide by this code of conduct, which applies to all community activities, including virtual discussions and in-person events. NGO-ISAC staff and leadership are responsible for enforcing and interpreting this code of conduct in a fair and consistent manner, in accordance with the organizational values outlined below.
Ethics Statement
NGO-ISAC believes that diversity and inclusion makes our community strong. We encourage participation from a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives, and expect our members to help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming community for everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity, age, religion, political affiliation, gender identity, sexual orientation, or other defining characteristic. Our organization adheres to a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, and any behavior that compromises the dignity and respect of our members. We expect all members to engage in civil and constructive communication, and to contribute positively to our community. We provide mechanisms for members to report any concerns or violations of this code of conduct. Reports will be treated with confidentiality and investigated thoroughly, with appropriate measures taken to address and resolve any issues.
Operating Norms
NGO-ISAC member organizations and their individual representatives are committed to:
- Welcoming Community: Maintaining a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive community.
- Responsible Sharing: Sharing actionable information and data, including best practices, with the community, in adherence with the Traffic Light Protocol (TLP).
- Collaborative Culture: Fostering a resilient and collaborative security culture across the community and civil society more broadly.
- Supporting Civil Society: Supporting an open, inclusive, and pluralistic civil society; respecting freedom of speech, rule of law, and support for constitutional democratic processes free from political violence.
- No Sales Use: Not using the NGO-ISAC platform as a sales channel.
Acceptable Behavior
1. Embrace Diversity and Inclusivity: Actively support a welcoming environment where diverse voices and perspectives are heard and respected. 2. Engage in Constructive Communication: Foster civil, respectful, and meaningful discussions that contribute positively to the community. 3. Support Professional Competence: Maintain high standards of professional competence and respect the work and expertise of others. 4. Share Information Responsibly: Provide actionable information and data, including best practices, while adhering to the Traffic Light Protocol (TLP). 5. Promote Collaboration and Resilience: Contribute to a resilient and collaborative security culture within the community and civil society. 6. Uphold Democratic Values: Respect freedom of speech, the rule of law, and constitutional democratic processes, and support an open, inclusive, and pluralistic civil society. 7. Respect Confidentiality and Privacy: Handle all interactions with sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy, ensuring that reports are managed with discretion.
Unacceptable Behavior
1. Violent: Promoting or endorsing violence, threats of violence, or violent rhetoric, including actions or language that escalate or support political or identity-based violence. 2. Intimidating and Harassing: Messages that are intimidating, harassing, bullying, hostile, or insulting toward others, delivered either online or in-person. 3. Disruptive and Harmful: Actions or communications that cause sustained disruptions, significant or unjust harm, or might be considered discriminatory or offensive in nature. 4. Disrespectful: Disrespect for differing viewpoints, opinions, or perspectives.

NGO-ISAC is committed to maintaining a space that supports engaging dialogue and encourages members to share challenges and resources openly. We take all violations seriously and ensure that reports will be handled with confidentiality and without retaliation, fostering a culture of trust and respect. 2. Those who are in violation of the NGO-ISAC Code of Conduct may face suspension or termination of their membership.
